Programs
CAPIE will be administering both in-house developed programs and programs sponsored by grants from other organizations. CAPIE's programs will primarily target underserved members of the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) communities, concentrating on serving older adults and persons with disabilities.
Benefits Education
CAPIE will be rolling out its Benefits Education Program by engaging in outreach activities, by conducting information seminars and webinars that educate others about the availability of relevant benefits, particularly those relevant to older adults and persons with disabilities. The Benefits Education Program will include seminars on social security, Medicaid and Medicare eligibility, compliance with income tax filing obligations and claiming tax credits such as the "earned income tax credit" and the "child tax credit", and understanding one's rights under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Part two of our Benefits Education Program will be to establish a call-in number where interested persons may call to request more information.
Junior Research Program
CAPIE believes the future of our communities lies with our youths. To raise awareness and encourage our youths to become active contributors to our communities, CAPIE will be providing research guidance to high school students interested in writing research papers addressing underserved members of the API communities. By challenging students to select a research topic relevant to the API community of interest, one of the goals of our Junior Research Program is to inspire our youths to build a better future and break down systemic barriers to opportunities for all.
